"Jackson & Wilson
came highly recommended to us from a Superior Court Judge who is a good
friend of ours. We were pleased with both the high level of
professionalism and the constant concern for our best interest. We were
always kept well informed of the status of our case. We feel highly
confident in referring Jackson & Wilson to others."
-- Mr. Chris B (Local contractor and Laguna Niguel family man)
"Your firm helped me
through one of the most difficult time of my life. You were all so
gracious about any questions I had. The speed with which you brought my
legal case to a fair and fast conclusion was so appreciated and I am
sure I would not be in the position I am in if you hadn’t resolved it
and got the monetary help for me."
-- Ms. Elaine A. (Retired and active senior citizen)

Motorcycle Accident Statistics and Cases-

Motorcycle Riders- Please be
careful- Deaths are up sharply among riders over 40!
As most of you know, I truly
enjoy riding and racing motocross in Southern California. That's me on the
right catching some air at the Lake Elsinore Motocross Track.
Having said this, most of my
riding is done on the track. With baby boomers and middle-aged
Americans purchasing and riding motorcycles on the street at a record pace, I
wanted to share these important motorcycle statistics with you.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the annual
number of motorcycle fatalities among 40-plus riders tripled over the past
decade to 1,674 in 2003. Deaths among riders under 30 dropped slightly to
1,161. The NHTSA also reports that the average age of motorcyclists killed in
accidents rose from 32 in 1994 to 38 in 2003. Motorcycle fatalities for all
ages jumped from 2,483 in 1999 to 3,661 in 2003.
The NHTSA attributes this
figures to people over 40 have a greater disposable income, little riding
experience and buying motorcycles with too much power. Drinking and riding also
played a part in deaths for riders in their 30s and 40s.
Riding tips for older
motorcycle riders are:
Get
regular eye exams- clarity and peripheral vision both diminish with age.
Your
reaction time has slowed- keep a greater distance between you and other
vehicles. Your reaction time may be twice as long if you are between 40 and
55 and three to four times as long if over 55.
Avoid
congested roads- “information overload” will affect your ability to safely
ride your motorcycle.
Blind
spots- many people, especially older drivers, fail to check their blind spot
before merging lanes or moving forward from a parked position. This
includes opening doors after parking their car. Expect this while
approaching or passing other stopped or moving vehicles.
Stay
fit- people begin to loose muscle mass after the age of 30. Riding
motorcycles, especially the big ones, takes a balance of skill and strength.
Take an
annual motorcycle safety course- keep you skills and techniques current.
Ride
dirt bikes- one of the best ways to learn how a motorcycle will handle,
especially in poor weather conditions, is to ride motocross motorcycles.
Riding on the street will be much easier after spending an afternoon in the
dirt or your local motocross track. Local motocross schools, classes and
rentals are available nationwide.
